Award Winning Professional Beer Writer Jeff Evans Launches Bodgers Reserve From The Chiltern Brewery At The Farmers' Bar

The Story

"A delightful beer" says Jeff Evans.

On Tuesday 5th March leading beer writer, taster and renowned professional beer 'drinker' Jeff Evans of inside beer http://www.insidebeer.com/ will be welcomed to the Farmers' Bar at The King's Head, Market Square Aylesbury for the official launch of Bodgers Reserve , the latest limited edition beer from The Chiltern Brewery.

It is a great honour to have someone so knowledgeable and so highly respected within the industry to visit this fabulously historic pub to launch this very special new bottled beer. Jeff's very positive comments and tasting notes were very welcome too.

"We have taken our ever popular and sumptuously smooth Bodgers Barley Wine, matured it in old whisky puncheons (barrels) for 5 months and let the bottled ale rest for a further 7 months in our cellars. This allows the flavours to mellow and mature" says Head Brewer Tom Jenkinson.

The Beer
Limited to just 500 numbered bottles, the new Bodgers Reserve is a real treat. At 8.9% volume, each 500 ml bottle is to be savoured and respected. It is available from 5th March on the website www.chilternbrewery.co.uk

Tasting Notes
"A dark golden ale with abundant aromas of strawberry and a creamy oak character which leaves a pleasant glow. A complex delightful beer." says Jeff Evans.

Full quote: "A dark golden ale with abundant aromas of strawberry and creamy oak. Ripe berry fruits (strawberry in particular) shine through in the generally sweet, warming taste, contrasted by a dry, creamy oak character and hints of orange zest. Fruity sweetness lingers a while in the dry, tangy, oaky finish which leaves a pleasant glow and rounded bitterness. This is a complex, delightful beer that is not at all heavy or cloying for its strength."
About  the beer:-
This beer is bottled at the brewery unpasteurised, with its original yeast.
Store upright and cool, serve lightly chilled and pour with care leaving the natural sediment in the bottle.
Optimum serving temperature 12°C/55F.

The Chiltern Brewery
George and Tom Jenkinson are brothers and directors of this family run brewery, founded in 1980 by their father and mother, Richard and Lesley Jenkinson. They are celebrating their 33rd year of business and remain the oldest independent brewery in The Chiltern Hills and Buckinghamshire.

Built on an old working farm in the heart of the Chilterns, the emphasis has always been to produce natural, wholesome beers using the best, class A malt and hops sourced in England. The brewing process mirrors age-old methods and the beers are brewed with skill, passion and integrity. "We have always been proud to support British farmers and all of our ingredients have a good provenance" say George and Tom.

The brewery has grown steadily over the years with the dedicated help of other family members and a strong team. The brewery shop sells the full range of bottled and draught beers; plus locally made wines, ciders, condiments, cordials and a delicious range of products such as chocolate, fresh bread, fudge and fruit cake that are all made using the Brewery's fine ales.

The Farmers' Bar
The Farmers' Bar in the historic King's Head in Market Square central Aylesbury is the brewery tap for The Chiltern Brewery. It has become popular with local people as a place to relax and enjoy a full range of Brewery and guest beers along with fine, locally sourced food served at lunchtimes. It prides itself on its carefully selected beer menu.
